Mumbai: Maharashtra government made an important decision for students who are active in art, sports activity and disabled students. Maharashtra Government today announced Open SSC (School Secondary Certificate) Board. Open SSC board will start from January 10 which would help the students more included towards arts and sports and need more fleibility in regards their academics. The state’s open board would also help students with special needs. As per the announcement, the board would become active from Janaury 10, 2019.
Maharashtra Education and Cultural Minister Vinod Tawade announced this today. Minister Vinod Tawade said that the artists, sportspersons and disabled students should be given time to work in their favorite field and hence this decision has been taken. Therefore, these students can give maximum time in their respective field and practice. Examinations under the Open Board would be conducted twice in a year – in December and June to provide the necessary flexibility to these students. Students can give exam of class V in the age of 10 years. At the age of 13, eighth class and at the age of 15 student can appears for a 10th class exam. These all tests will be conducted by the Open SSC Board. The move is a welcome addition and would help thousands of students who have to drop out of regular school due to their vocational or artistic or athletic aspirations.
